It is that time of the year

when the santas congregate to torment you with demands of money and of affection. Fight the evil santa!

Bye bye, bad weather!

|

Soon it is time again - I'm off to Tenerife in eight days from today. It is going to be wonderful to get some sun, since the summer here in Sweden has so far been the wettest and most miserable in ages.

This time I'm actually going to do something during my stay in Tenerife. Yes, I'm taking a diving course to get an open sea diving certificate. How about that? It is going to be great fun - this is something I've been wanting to do for many years. I will post more reports when I'm there.

OK, I am an atheist, but what kind?

Another on line quiz that reveals the truth ...
You scored as Scientific Atheist, These guys rule. I'm not one of them myself, although I play one online. They know the rules of debate, the Laws of Thermodynamics, and can explain evolution in fifty words or less. More concerned with how things ARE than how they should be, these are the people who will bring us into the future.

Celebrating Mum's 80th birthday

|

Yes, I've been to Tenerife again. Third time in 8 months. Maybe it is time to move there permanently?

This time the reason (as if I needed one?) was to celebrate Mum's 80th birthday. Me and mum stayed for two weeks, my sister had to go back after only one week. Mum is pretty mobile for her age, but she is 80, so no mountaineering or other strenuous activities like in last summer. We did go on a couple of trips, among those one to La Gomera which is a really, really nice place to which I will definitely go back.

Images in the gallery as usual.

The sun shines and all is well

|

Been here in San Eugenio, Tenerife, for six days now and I am starting to feel something like a human being again. Too bad I have to go back to the dark, cold and rainy soon.

Yes I know, I am a bad person. I am not going on long hikes, seeking places where no tourist has been before, or any cumbersome things like that. I am just here to relax, get some sun, and have a few drinks. OK? Do you have a problem with that? Well? Yes, I am talking to you!

Oh yes, now is the time!

|

Going, going, gone! No more cold, dark, rainy, horrible Swedish autumn - at least for a little while. I'm off to Tenerife coming Sunday, to relax, work on my tan, and drink a lot of beer. This is a much needed break that I am really looking forward to. There will be images in the gallery and perhaps some more stories posted when I get back again.

Oh noes, the winter is here

|

Until now the weather here in Gothenburg has been unseasonably warm and sunny. But that seems to be over now, and the ghastly gray, gray, rain, rain routine has started. Now it will be unbearable until April or so ...

I hate this, I really do. I honestly can not understand how anyone can say they like this cold, grey, whet, windy, and genereally disgusting season. Well, this winter I will go away for a few weeks to find a warmer and nicer place. I know, I have been saying that for years, and it hasn't happened. There has always been stuff going on at work, preventing me to take time off. But not this time. It will happen!

Personal information

|

Sven Axelsson was born in the Swedish town Uppsala in 1962 to parents Per and Maj Axelsson. He has a sister, Gunilla Bergersson, and a brother, Gunnar Axelsson, both considerably older than himself (15 and 12 years respectively), so in practise he grew up as the only child in the family. At the age of 6, the family moved to the small town Enköping, and then at the age of 8, they moved on to Karlskrona at the south east coast of Sweden.

He moved to Göteborg at the age of 17 and is still living there after brief excurses to Dublin, Ireland and Lowell MA, USA..

Below you'll find some more specific information about Sven's achievements in life.

All new!

| |

Well folks, here it is; my all new, brilliantly shining web site!

Yes I know, I didn't keep the old site up to date. Posts were scarce and functionality was lacking. I have now reimplemented everything on the site using the very exellent CMS Drupal. I have also dumped Menalto Gallery and am instead using plain Drupal functionality for my image gallery. This means that some functions from the old site are lost, e.g. the slide show, but who cares, nobody looks at this stuff anyways, right?

Another thing to note: All registered users from my old site have been removed. At the moment the only function that requires registration is posting comments, but there may be more in the future. If you want to take full advantage of the site, you should register again. Come on, it is easy!
