Who is Svenax?

|

Sven Erik Axelsson was born in Uppsala, Sweden, on the 23:rd of May 1962 as the youngest child of Per and Maj Axelsson. He has a sister, Gunilla Bergerson, and a brother, Gunnar Axelsson, both considerably older that Svenax, so, in practise, he grew up as the only child.

The family moved to Enköping when Svenax was 6, and then to Karlskrona in southern Sweden, when he was 8.

In Karlskrona Svenax started to develop his life-long interest in music and he learned to play the Oboe and Bassoon. At the age of 17 he moved to Göteborg at the west coast of Sweden, where he soon connected with the Murray Pipes & Drums and started to play the Highland Bagpipe. Svenax has been doing just that ever since and is just now perhaps starting to understand a little of how piping and pipe music works.

He plays a fully mounted silver Hardie, ca. 1960, heavily refurbrished by Rolf Littorin, our local pipe maker. Svenax also owns a Naill Scottish lowland pipe and two Swedish pipes, one by Leif Ericsson, Insjön, and another by Alban Faust. In addition he plays a beautiful Scottish smallpipe made by Rolf Littorin.
